The short version: Scribe is offline-first. There is no account to create, and we don't use analytics, tracking, or ads. We operate no servers and collect no personal data about you. Your reading data stays on your device.
Scribe is published by Selah AI Consulting Limited, a company registered in New Zealand ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the Scribe mobile app handles your information. If you have any questions, contact us at dev@aiconsult.co.nz.
Everything you create in Scribe — bookmarks, highlights, your reading position, and your settings — is stored only in local storage on your device. It never leaves your device, and we never see it or receive a copy. If you uninstall the app, this data is deleted.
The Scholar unlock is a one-time, non-subscription purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details. The transaction is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Restoring a purchase uses your Apple ID; we are not involved in and do not store that information.
Scholar includes an optional AI Research feature. It is "bring your own key": you supply your own API key from an AI provider, and that key is stored only in your device's secure storage. We never receive it.
When — and only when — you use this feature, your question and the scripture passages you have selected are sent directly from your device to the AI provider you choose:
Scribe does not run a server in between. We do not see, log, or store these requests or their responses. Once your data reaches the provider you selected, it is handled under that provider's privacy policy and your agreement with them. If you never use AI Research, no data ever leaves your device. The providers you may choose (Anthropic, OpenRouter) maintain their own privacy policies that provide protections equivalent to those described here; review them at the links above before using AI Research.
Scribe is suitable for users of all ages. Because we collect no personal data, we collect none from children either.
Privacy laws such as the EU GDPR and California's CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data a company holds about you. Because we hold no personal data about you on any server, there is nothing on our side to access, export, or delete. The data stored on your device is entirely under your control and can be removed by deleting the app.
If we update this policy, we will revise the effective date shown above and post the new version at this address.
